Group Chief Risk Officer

Dr. Chong Han Hwee is the Group Chief Risk Officer of RHB Banking Group, with close to 30 years of experience in risk management across Australia, the Middle East, and Asia. He is responsible for overseeing risk management across the Group’s regional banking and financial services businesses, while ensuring risk remains a strategic enabler of sustainable growth and resilience. Under his leadership, RHB has strengthened its enterprise risk management capabilities through the introduction of Risk Nerve Centres, enhanced risk intelligence, and AI-enabled risk management initiatives. He has also championed the Group’s risk culture agenda, embedding behavioural metrics, risk culture dashboards, and data-driven interventions to strengthen accountability and proactive risk management across the organisation. Beyond RHB, Dr. Chong serves as Chair of the industry Chief Risk Officer Forum, working closely with regulators and industry peers to advance risk governance, strengthen industry collaboration, and support the responsible adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
